Olumsuz Soru Cümlesi Yapma

Bu noktada iki durum söz konusudur. Konuşma esnasında kullanılan yapı ile resmi dilde kullanılan yapılar söz konusudur.

Konuşma dilinde kullanılan yapı şu şekildedir:

    Why isn't it ready yet?

Bu cümlede görüldüğü gibi 'not' olumsuzluk eki, yardımcı fiilden hemen sonra geldi. Bir kaç örneğe daha bakalım:

    Aren't I next?
    Doesn't she know?

Resmi dildeki kullanımda ise, 'not' olumsuzluk eki özneden sonra gelir:

    Why is it not ready yet?
    Does she not know?

Aşağıdaki örnekler, konuşma dilindeki kullanıma çevrilmiştir. İnceleyelim:

  • Are you not well? Aren't you well?
  • Can you not swim? Can't you swim?
  • Do you not speak Spanish? Don't you speak Spanish?
  • Were the shops not open? Weren't the shops open?
  • Has Ali not arrived? Hasn't Ali arrived?
  • Did she not know him? Didn't she know him?

Olumsuz soru cümlesi yapısını işlerin yolunda gidip gitmediğini kontrol etmek için kullanırız:

  • I think you went to Scotland last week.
    • Didn't you go to Scotland last week?
  • I think that's Bill over there.
    • Isn't that Bill over there?
  • I think you can speak Arabic.
    • Can't you speak Arabic?
  • I believe you studied at Oxford.
    • Didn't you study at Oxford?
  • I think your mother is a doctor.
    • Isn't your mother a doctor?

Negatif soru cümlelerini ünlem bildiren durumlarda kullanırız:

  • Isn't it cold!
  • Doesn't your hair look nice!
  • Weren't those children noisy!
  • Isn't it surprising!
  • Doesn't she look tired!
